Mozambique Paraíba Tourmaline 6.40ct

tourmaline · 6.40 ct · Mozambique, Mavuco · certified by GRS — fractional on-chain ownership on CaratShares.

Paraíba tourmaline of 6.40 carats from the Mozambique deposits at Mavuco. While the original Brazilian source produced material from the late 1980s, the Mozambique deposits opened around 2001 and have since become the principal source of large fine Paraíba on the international market. The neon cyan colour, electric and self-illuminating, comes from copper trace elements unique to this gem species. Untreated and unenhanced. The oval cut maximises the optical effect under both natural and artificial light, with the characteristic backlit glow visible at any angle. GRS report 20240312 confirms Mozambique origin and untreated status. Paraíba tourmaline is among the rarest commercially traded gems on Earth — global production from all sources combined is estimated at less than five percent of fine sapphire output.
