Imperial topaz of 6.40 carats from the historic Ouro Preto deposit — the only commercial source of true imperial topaz on Earth, and a deposit producing increasingly thin output for the past two decades. The pear cut emphasises the saturation along the long axis without losing brilliance at the rounded shoulder.
The colour is the ideal "sherry" hue — a warm orange-red with neither pure orange nor pure red dominating. Untreated, which for this material means the colour is permanent and the material commands the source-region premium that auction houses now apply consistently.
