Black opal of 6.50 carats from the Lightning Ridge fields in New South Wales — the only commercial source of fine black opal on Earth. The "play of colour" — bright red against a black body tone — is the most prized configuration, occurring naturally in only a small fraction of Lightning Ridge production. Untreated and unenhanced. The free-form cut preserves the maximum surface area of colour play, which moves dynamically as the stone is rotated. The base body tone is N1 (the darkest classification), against which the red and green flashes appear with exceptional vivacity. AGL report 1109122 confirms Australian origin and untreated status.
